EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION

Eddy current (EC) inspection is used in a variety of industries to detect flaws and make measurements.

​

EC uses electromagnetic induction to detect discontinuities (i.e. cracking) in conductive materials at or near the surface of the material.

​

The biggest advantage is that EC testing can be conducted on clean painted/coated surfaces, opposed to MPI inspection which requires all coating to be removed.

​

This makes EC testing a cost effective method  for:

​

  • 10 yearly major NDT inspections on cranes, EPWs, and mobile machinery

  • Tower crane pre-erection inspection

  • Crack detection where coating can't be removed.

​
